Practices
Practices are pretty straightforward. Your child needs comfortable clothes, cleats or tennis shoes, shin guards, a ball, and a water bottle. Most importantly he needs a mindset to learn and train.
Must-have items:
Shirt - Does not have to be a game jersey. Wear something cool and breathable.
Shorts
Socks
Shin Guards
Cleats or Tennis shoes - Tennis shoes are acceptable but firm ground cleats are recommended.
For my U9 team, a size 4 ball is required.
For my U11 team, a size 4 ball is required.
Water bottle with water or sports drink.
You can find out more information on the gear regulations by visiting here.
Cold-Weather Gear - Optional
Dri-Fit type fitted undershirt. Color does not matter for practice, but for games, the sleeves must be solid white. *Logos and writing on sleeves shall be kept to a minimum if you cannot find an undershirt with solid white sleeves for game undershirts.
Workout type pants, something loose that does not restrict movement. Blue jeans are not recommended, but if that's all he has by all means that will work, we don't want your child to be cold.
Additional options to consider bringing:
You may want to bring some sort of folding chair, seating appears to be limited or virtually not existent on the fields.
You may also want to bring some sort of water or beverage for yourself.
"Off" or some form of insect repellant might be a good choice as well.
Sunscreen
A container (small ice chest) with Flordia Water diluted in water and ice, and a rag or cooling cloth, like a Frogg Togg Chilly Pad. (DO NOT DRINK) This is for cooling down only, it is not drinkable!!
PRACTICES are scheduled for Mondays @ 5:30 PM and Thursdays @ 5:30 PM every week at Moore Park. These times and dates are subject to change; we will discuss this more at our first practice. Our practice field is always going to be field 22B.
During practices, children may leave the field at any time to visit with their parents. Just try to get them back on the field ASAP so that we can teach them.
Parents may enter the field anytime during practice if their child needs attention.
Practices and games will START ON TIME AND END ON TIME. A PARENT RESPONSIBLE FOR EACH CHILD MUST BE PRESENT AT ALL TIMES DURING PRACTICES AND GAMES and claim their child immediately at the end. Parents are also required to be in attendance for restroom breaks, I nor my assistant coach nor any helpers we may have will bring your child to the restroom during practices or games.
Parents are busy, and schedules are full. We understand that we are parents and work full-time jobs ourselves, so we definitely get it. We want this experience to be fun for the children. Children want to win, and we, as parents, want to see them win. To win, you must first put in the time and effort to practice. Additionally, to be fair to the other players on the team you should require your child to make at least one practice a week, two would be even better.
We understand sometimes schedules sometimes prevent parents from bringing the kids to practice, but we at least ask that you exhaust all trusted/safe options, and ask grandparents, aunts, or uncles, if they are available. We are in Cajun country most grandparents love being included.
– No child is to be forced to attend a practice or a game. This is to be fun. However, with that being said, let’s be considerate of others while teaching them to be considerate.
Think of this, during the week your child showed up to every practice, putting in the hard work and time. So every child can play during the game, I am forced to have him sit on the bench for someone who has not put in the same effort and hard work that he has?
How as a parent, would that make you feel?
How do you think the child that I was forced to bench felt?
I think everyone here would agree that is not fair to those children that put in the work. Let’s be respectful to others and attend practice, so everyone can earn their game playtime.
